The Department of Health and Human Service (HHS) has allocated $12 million in funds over the next 5 years for a new National Ebola Training and Education Center (http://1.usa.gov/1dxrLug). The Center’s co-leaders—Emory University in Atlanta, University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, and Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City—will receive the funding to develop and teach courses in caring for patients with Ebola and other serious infectious diseases based on evidence-based best practices. The training will be offered to state health departments and health care facilities.

Since December 2014, the medical centers at Emory and University of Nebraska have trained 460 health care professionals from 87 health care systems on how to best control infections and care for patients who have contracted the Ebola virus. The new National Ebola Training and Education Center will make it possible for more health care professionals from state health departments and health care facilities to benefit from such training.

More information on the National Ebola Training and Education Center is available by emailing hpp@hhs.gov.
