For a libido booster for everyone, try chocolate.

A 2004 study of Italian women and their chocolate eating habits found that women who regularly nibbled on cocoa wanted and enjoyed sex more than women who barely touched the stuff. This may be because chocolate increases both serotonin and dopamine levels in the brain, making us happy and lowering our stress level–both “mood” boosters, if you know what I mean. Another theory is that cocoa increases blood flow through the arteries and relaxes blood vessels–sending blood to all the right regions. Whatever the reason, chocolate is never a bad thing. Try sharing a bar of Ghirardelli’s Intense Dark Midnight Reverie.

None of us are new to the concept of tailoring your dinner order to date night (hello, garlic breath!), but you might be surprised to learn that the foods you eat can affect your date night far beyond anything a mint can fix. Slip some of these foods into your dinner or pair them with your nightcap and you’re looking at a better time in bed. Really. These foods boost your performance and her desire–a winning combination. This is a two-way street, so make sure you avoid the foods that will hurt your sex drive, too.

For peak performance, eat pesto.

Pine nuts are full of zinc, and women with higher levels of zinc in their system have been shown to have a higher sex drive than those with lower levels. (Or try oysters, though we find slurping spaghetti far sexier.)

For a libido booster, wind down your date with watermelon.

Watermelon has even more lycopene than tomatoes, and lycopene rivals Viagra in its ability to relax blood vessels and improve circulation to certain, ahem, areas of the body. Try Jamba Juice’s Wildly Watermelon Whirl’n frozen yogurt as a post date dessert–only 180 calories and made from real watermelon juice.

For a libido booster (for her), grab coffee.

It turns out all those Starbucks daters may be on to something–coffee may just be the best libido booster around. It contains a stimulant that has been shown (in animal studies) to put females in the mood. Grab her a cappuccino and brace yourself for a long, lucky night.
